In Spring 2026, I consulted with WIDA‘s education team to develop content for a professional learning course for teachers centered on supporting disabled multilinguals. During my time assisting WIDA, I led a lunch-and-learn to guide the team’s development of learning resources, provided expert interviews as learning content in new modules, reviewed professional learning modules WIDA had developed during my time working with them, and generated digestible research briefs and one-pagers on topics related to disability and additional language education: anxiety, dyslexia, explicit and direct instruction, co-occurrence, and identity and terminology. I had a great experience working with such a conscientious team whose purpose aligned so well with my own belief that K-12 teachers need support specific to the learning and teaching of disabled multilinguals. It’s an incredible honor to have been asked to help WIDA build learning resources for those instructors, and I was grateful to lend my expertise to a platform that will impact so many teachers and students. Thank you, WIDA!
